Azi Nareen: The Newest Character Who’s Stolen My Heart

I’m soo happy the strike is over and I can finally talk about what I love most, TV!! Scavengers Reign is one of the many shows I’ve watched this fall, I honestly only clicked it because there was a Black person on the cover. (no shame) But it’s SO good! Scavengers Reign is an adult animated show about a space crew that gets stranded on an alien planet, one of those people being Azi Nareen.

Based on the cover, I couldn’t tell Azi’s gender and I was delighted when I saw she was a Black woman. I love seeing Black female characters like this, it just felt so good and REAL to see her on screen. I’ve never seen an animated female character like her and granted I don’t watch many, but it just seems so rare. I felt like I was looking at myself. No, but seriously, we have the same hairline… and so many similarities (ok we’re both sapphics and that’s it but hehe)

Azi is just so cool to me. And I loved seeing her relationship between Levi (robot) transform throughout the show, it was interesting.

Levi is Azi’s “personal assistant” robot and honestly the light of the show, I already know Levi’s a fan favorite! I hope more people watch this show I’d love to know what they think. The finale was chaotic but great, and I don’t feel bad or anxious about it. Season 2 hasn’t been confirmed but I hope it will be soon! But at the same time, it wouldn’t be the worst thing for this to be a limited series. This show is truly amazing, and the world building is insane, I’ve never seen anything like it. I can’t recommend it enough, and if you already watch AWESOME let me know what you think!!
